New Young Actors Audition Intensive Weekend January 25 & 26, 2014!

I am very happy to announce a new workshop that I will be leading in late January. This is going to be the audition intensive weekend that I have spoken with a few parents about, and am finally making happen.

We will work for two full days (10am - 5pm) on camera, with guest industry professionals in attendance, sharing critique and feedback with the kids. I will have a list of guests available by early next week. The young actors will receive sides prior to the workshop, which they will prepare for the event. There will also be plenty of improv and exercises that the kids always love.

There is a PayPal button to the right, which can be used to purchase your child's spot in the workshop. I have added an "early bird" option this time, to give a 15% savings to anyone who utilizes it. I am also offering discounts to families with multiple young actors in them.

Hi Everybody!

I have been busy working on projects so far in the early part of 2013, but many of the families who have done workshops with me in the past have been asking me about a new one. Well, it's high time we had another weekend workshop for the kids!

I want to do a one-day, audition-focused, intensive Workshop for Young Actors on Saturday, May 18, 2013, from 9:30am to 4pm. The workshop cost is $175 (with a non-refundable deposit of $75 due by Friday, May 4 to confirm attendance). As soon as the first five deposit payments have been received, location information will be confirmed. The workshop is limited to the first ten actors with paid deposits. A second day (on Sunday, May 12) will be added in the case of high interest in the workshop.

WORKSHOP BREAKDOWN - May 18, 2013

-  9:30 - greetings, introductions, and warm up
- 10:00 - acting exercises and improv
- 10:45 - rehearse prepared scenes (sent via email before the workshop, tailored to each young actor)

- 12:00 - LUNCH

- 12:45 - read prepared scenes for guest producer/director/casting person (tba)
-  2:00 - scene work critique from myself and guest
-  3:40 - Q&A with guest (parents encouraged to participate)

Two Days Away!

Wow, the weekend is here, and I am ready to have some fun on Sunday! The scenes have been sent to the actors, our guest director Luis Garcia is excited, and our guest actors Kristi Bogart and Mike Prosser are ready to do some improv with the young actors!

announcing the Special Guests for Jan.13th workshop!

I am happy to announce that we will have some great guests at the upcoming workshop. They are coming to share their professional experience with the kids, and give them invaluable feedback.

Joining us as one of our guest actors, who will be improvising scenes with the young actors, is my friend Danny Belrose. Danny has a long resumé that includes stage, network TV, and major motion pictures.

Our guest director for the day is Luis Garcia, a writer/director with a feature film and other projects in development. Before nesting in Portland, Luis worked in NYC and LA as a casting assistant and script reader, among other jobs.

Also attending as a special guest when we watch the taped readings on the big screen, will be casting director Lori Lewis. Lori has done casting for Leverage, Twilight, and many other studio feature films shooting on location in Portland.

I really look forward to this workshop, and I know it will be a blast for all involved!

Hey Everybody!

For those of you who did not make it to my Open House last night, I just wanted to let you know more about the Audition Workshop For Young Actors on Sunday, Jan. 13th, from 9:30am - 4pm. The workshop takes place at Indent Studios (1535 SE 9th Ave., PDX 97214)

The day will go a little something like this:

- At 9:30, the kids and I warm up with some fun stuff like improv games, etc. (I try to be flexible with this part, because someone always has a new fun game they wanna try...) 

- About 10am, the kids do improvised scene work with guest adult actors and each other, and rehearse the scenes they will have received a few days before the workshop. 

- After a lunch break, the kids will do scenes they received a few days earlier for a guest director. These scenes will be taped, and afterward, we will project them onto the giant screen in the studio. The guest and I will give individual feedback to each young actor.

I also like to throw a few other curve balls and surprises at them, just to keep it exciting. The workshop goes until 4-ish, and usually we are all wiped out by then. Haha.
